What's hiding in your data?
Many housing organisations use software and services from Dotted Eyes to help bring their data to life and give them location intelligence.
Our goal for 2008 is to help more housing organisations do this through the effective use of geographical information systems (GIS). We plan to do this by hosting free user groups, allowing members to meet and start sharing ideas and best practice. We are also publishing a guide which can be used to show decision makers the importance of location intelligence. It features a handy guide to buying the right type of data for your organisation.
Free Guide to Location Intelligence for Housing
Our 2008 Guide to Location Intelligence for Housing is due out in April.
It includes a guide to GIS and case studies from Midland Heart and Shoreline Housing Partnership.

Look out for us in the CIH Spotlight supplement
We were delighted to sponsor the March Spotlight supplement on Housing Technology which is distributed with the CIH magazine.
The supplement features our flagship web mapping software, ResponseMX, which can now be used to offer choice based lettings. To see ResponseMX in action, visit some of our clients' websites or call Andrew Brittan on 01527 556935 for more information.
Free user groups
If you work in housing for a local authority or a housing organisation, you might like to join one of our Housing User Groups.
We already have delegates from housing associations, local authorities and consultancies, but we'd love to fill our venues to capacity so please register and encourage colleagues to do the same. Each event is free of charge and includes lunch.
In terms of content, we will be looking at the business case for GIS (Geographical Information Systems), as many delegates have asked for information about return on investment. We will also find out how GIS experts at Midland Heart, one of the ten largest housing and regeneration businesses in the UK, use different mapping datasets to give them location intelligence.
Other topics include how to use add-ons to automate routine tasks, how to integrate third party data into maps, a demonstration of mobile GIS using PDAs and tablet PCs and an overview of developments in Internet and intranet mapping. Representatives from PB MapInfo will be on hand to demonstrate how to use MapInfo Professional software to exploit your data to best advantage.
As an added bonus, each user group attendee will be entered into a prize draw to win an iPod shuffle and £500 worth of training from Dotted Eyes!
User group dates:
19th March: Ordnance Survey's Head Office, Southampton. 10am-3pm.
9th April: Dotted Eyes' offices, near Birmingham. 10am-3pm.
Please use the feedback field on the registration form to indicate any particular topics you would like us to cover at these events.
If you experience any problems in registering, please call Andrew Brittan on 01527 556935 or email us.
