New GIS training schedule released

We’re delighted to release our training schedule for January to early September 2008. Courses include Introduction to MapInfo Professional, MapInfo Professional Advanced, Vertical Mapper and FME.

Our training delegates benefit from:

  • A custom built training suite with TFT flatscreens;
  • Full disabled access;
  • Buffet lunch (all dietary requirements catered for, on request)
  • Free telephone technical support for one month after the course to help them put what they have learned into practice
  • FME delegates are trained by the only FME Certified Trainer in the UK.

Dotted Eyes use GIS to help deliver 3,000 Christmas presents

Staff at Dotted Eyes were delighted to help a local organisation, Birmingham City Mission, to map the most effective route for their annual Christmas present delivery to 3,000 needy Birmingham children.

Dotted Eyes’ Data Team provided a look up table of postcodes to Easting and Northing coordinates, enabling the Mission to plan the best route for its van delivery drivers.

MapInfo Professional - maintenance release 9.0.2

PB MapInfo have released a patch for MapInfo Professional which can be downloaded here. The release notes are available from PB MapInfo’s website.

The new release adds the following functionality:

  • Upgrades to the curved labelling capability;
  • Various issues relating to working with databases, geocoding, importing/exporting, localisation, selection/querying and more; and
  • New projection support for Ireland and Germany.

Dotted Eyes celebrate GISS Catalist framework agreement award

OGCbuying.solutions announced today that Dotted Eyes is to be an accredited supplier on the Geographic Information Services and Solutions (GISS) Catalist framework agreement.

OGCbuying.solutions, part of HM Treasury, shortlisted ten UK suppliers following a rigourous tender process in accordance with EU procurement procedures. (more…)

Dotted Eyes and Geoconnexion competition winner!

Clive Tugwood from Entec, an Environmental and Engineering Consultancy, played our Spot the Difference game, based on two NAVTEQ  maps, and won a sat nav. He will also receive £800 worth of free Introduction to MapInfo Professional or FME training at our GIS training suite in Worcestershire.

Offices closed on Friday 14th December

We will be closing our offices for the day on Friday 14th December, to allow us to host our staff Christmas Party. We apologise for the inconvenience, but after such a busy year we have a lot to celebrate together, including one of our customers, Sustrans, winning £50 million from the Big Lottery Fund.

We will be closed on UK Bank Holidays over Christmas and New Year.

On behalf of Dotted Eyes, I would like to wish you all a very Happy Christmas. We look forward to speaking to you all in 2008. In the meantime, we hope Santa uses his GIS to ensure your presents are delivered on time!

Sustrans won £50 million!

We were delighted to hear that the Sustrans Connect2 project has won £50 million from The Big Lottery Fund: the People’s £50 Million Lottery Giveaway .

Sustrans, the UK’s leading sustainable transport charity, will use the funds to invest in walking and cycling UK-wide as part of a five year project.

Dotted Eyes and GiSProfessional competition winner!
