Supporting open source software

Open source support is a vital component of any open source solution. For senior management, it provides the reassurance that the software is mature enough to be equivalent to commercial grade software, and any issues can be handled in line with the service levels expected from proprietary software.

Our open source support packages provide a different type of support to proprietary software. When we support proprietary software we cannot alter the software, any upgrades and bug fixes are prioritised and developed by the vendor itself. Open source, in contrast, is much more flexible. If a customer finds a bug within open source software, we can search for a solution amongst the user community, or, if no fix is available, we can develop a workaround or patch and release it not only to that customer, but to the wider user community, benefiting all.
