Introduction to MapInfo for the Church of England

Duration: 1 Day, Cost: £300 ex VAT

This one day training course is aimed at staff who are new to using MapInfo Professional. The course data and examples have been specifically designed to easily demonstrate how MapInfo Professional can be used by diocesan staff.

  • Opening tables and workspaces in MapInfo Professional;
  • Changing the appearance of map layers - styles, labels, visibility;
  • Managing your map window - scale, display units, selecting records;
  • Importing external data (e.g. Census and point data) - Excel and Access;
  • Thematic mapping and layout printing.

Course prerequisites

The course is aimed at new users or those who wish to refresh their skills, so there are no prerequisite skills required to attend this course.

The advanced course builds on the skill sets learned within the introductory training, as well as exploring many of the more sophisticated functions available within MapInfo Professional. The course data and tutorials have been specifically tailored to demonstrate how the tools within MapInfo Professional can add value to the work undertaken by diocesan staff.

  • Advanced digitising and object editing;
  • Modifying table structure and updating columns;
  • Querying with SQL Select;
  • Advanced thematic mapping;
  • Tools in MapInfo Professional;
  • Linking to external files.

Course prerequisites

The course is aimed at more experienced users wishing to undertake advanced analytics, or those who have attended an Introductory course.
