Please note that the standard Introduction course is based on MI Pro 10.5. However, we are still happy to offer private courses using MI Pro 9.5.1.

MapInfo Professional is a powerful Microsoft Windows based mapping application that enables business analysts and GIS professionals to visualise the relationships between data and geography.

Aimed at the day-to-day user, this course introduces the basic concepts of MapInfo Professional allowing you to get the most out of your software investment. Our trainer will guide you through the functionality of MapInfo Professional; offering you help, advice and tips to improve your efficiency along the way.

Course description

In summary it includes the following sessions:

  • Getting started – Understanding the important software settings;
  • Viewing Tables in MapInfo Professional;
  • Navigating Map & Browser windows;
  • Understanding MapInfo file types;
  • Changing the appearance of map layers;
  • Finding & selecting records;
  • Tools in MapInfo Professional;
  • Digitising & capturing your own data;
  • Modifying data structure & creating new Tables;
  • Importing external data (Excel & Access);
  • Linking to external files;
  • Thematic mapping;
  • Printing & using Layouts.

Course prerequisites

The course is aimed at new users or those who wish to refresh their skills, so there are no prerequisite skills required to attend this course.

Customers who attend this course may also benefit from Advanced MapInfo Professional training, Vertical Mapper and FME training.
