Vertical Mapper is the powerful three-dimensional companion software to MapInfo Professional. It features modeling tools and a full suite of interpolators based on all standard estimation principles that let you build, view and analyse continuous surfaces, or grids. Easy-to-use wizards help novice users achieve meaningful answers while experienced mappers can adjust advanced settings to obtain more sophisticated results.
This course introduces the concepts of Vertical Mapper allowing you to get the most out of your software investment. Our trainer will guide you through the functionality of the software, offering you help, advice and tips to improve your efficiency along the way.
Course description

- Getting Started – Understanding the Interface and integration with MapInfo Professional;
- Understanding Vertical Mapper file types;
- Importing and working with grids;
- Using the tools and Grid Manager;
- Interpolation methods & Modelling;
- Extracting information from a grid;
- Producing contours to be used in MapInfo Professional;
- Visibility and Viewshed analysis;
- 3D grids & drape layers;
- Querying grids;
- Cross Section Analysis;
- Relationships between grid layers using Spatial Correlation;
- ‘Natural Neighbour’ analysis.
Course prerequisites
The course is aimed at existing MapInfo Professional users who wish to extend their spatial analysis capabilities with Vertical Mapper. Delegates who attend this course must have previous experience of MapInfo Professional to a standard equivalent to that outlined in our Introduction to MapInfo Professional training course.
