Our award for best innovation goes to…
Congratulations to Martin Roddy, Anton Rand, Steve Davies and Steve Battey for winning the latest Dotted Eyes’ Innovation award.
The guys were responsible for a recent shortage of pizza within the trendy Jewellery Quarter of Central Birmingham, where Dotted Eyes’ offices are based, as a direct result of their late night innovation sessions. Competing aggressively against other Dotted Eyes’ teams, they came up with the idea for an innovative Work Force Tracker application. This neat application scored top marks in the ‘Cool’, Technology’ and ‘Commercial-ability’ sections.
How the clever gadget works is simple. It tracks peoples’ locations in real-time from their phone or any mobile device, plotting their location and the actual route taken on a map. It then performs analysis on the efficiency of the route taken and the time taken for all appointments.
The solution is made up of a mobile application that can work on any device and a server reporting console. Against the clock the team utilised many cutting edge technologies to get the solution working, including:
– Play framework
– Google API
– Web Sockets
– JQuery Mobile
– PostGres 2
– Scala
– And apparently a Flux capacitor
The guys are looking forward to building on what they’ve learned from these sessions to develop even more cutting edge applications for our customers.
